Three Things That We Learned from Week 10 of the NFL Season

  • All hail the state of Florida from Jacksonville to Tampa. Miami, ehhhh … not so much. The Jags are definitely getting a new QB, but I don’t know if the same rings true for the Bucs. If Glennon strings together enough wins to close out the season, the Bucs won’t have a good enough pick to take one of the top QBs. If he doesn’t get these wins however, then we will see a new youngster under center.
  • Watch out for these Arizona Cardinals. At 5-4 and with a game in Jacksonville this Sunday, they can be right in the thick of this NFC playoff race. They play very well at home in the desert.
  • Let’s give it up for the New York football Giants. After an 0-6 start they have put themselves right back in the race for a playoff spot. With a very winnable game against a crippled Green Bay Packers squad, it will be interesting to see what the scene will be like on November 24th when the Dallas Cowboys come to town.

  • Since Kellen Clemens took the helm. He almost beats Seattle and then destroys Indianapolis the next week. I’m not saying he’s the St. Louis Rams‘ future, but I don’t think Sam Bradford is either. He’s never shown any kind of improvement of being a franchise quarterback.
  • The NFC South will come down to Carolina and New Orleans. Both still have to play each other twice and let’s see if Carolina’s improving ferocious defense can handle the high-powered offense of New Orleans!
  • Jerry Jones is truly a laughing stock when it comes to his “football knowledge.” He needs to hire a GM. He’s a phenomenal entrepreneur! He’s horrible building a football team! Rob Ryan got the last laugh on Sunday night.

  • In Chip Kelly’s most recent press conference, he acknowledged that, according to film, Riley Cooper has been open since Week 1. It’s not that Cooper has emerged, it’s that the Eagles’ new signal caller gets through his reads quicker. If the duo of 9 and 14 keep this up, Philly’s decision on the future of 7 and 18 will get a lot easier.
  • It isn’t the first time, but it always surprises me when a team can lose one player and take a nose dive. The Colts need to figure it out without Reggie Wayne. After handing Denver and Seattle their only loses, they struggled against Case Keenum and Kellen Clemens. Not good.
  • The NFC North looked to be a tight race this season (with the exception of Minnesota). It’s a shame we aren’t going to be able to watch this battle play out fairly. It looks like the division winner will be decided on who has the healthiest QB. It’s Detroit’s division to lose.

  • Carolina’s in-season turnaround has been absolutely remarkable. I’ve been saying all along that I won’t be a believer until they win a close game, which is something they haven’t been able to do since Ron Rivera became head coach. Well, they just beat one of the best teams in the league on the road by one point. That should qualify. I hope there’s still room for me on the bandwagon.
  • Congratulations to the Jaguars and the Bucs on getting their first wins of the year. The Bucs look like they have the defense and running game to rattle off a few more W’s. The Jaguars… well, at least they won’t be winless.
  • This Incognito/Martin situation has really taken a toll on the Miami Dolphins. In the first half of their Monday night game against Tampa Bay, it looked like they didn’t even want to be there. The only way to wash away the stain of the past 2 weeks is to clean house. Jeff Ireland and Joe Philbin & staff must be fired. It’s really sad that a team with as much talent as Miami is being forced to start from scratch… again.
