The 2013 NFL Free Agency Draft (picks 16-20)

#16: St. Louis Rams: Reggie Bush – RB

With Stephen Jackson on the outs and Amendola unpickable, The Rams need to find someone for Bradford to get the ball to.  In Miami, Reggie Bush proved he could carry the load, is as dangerous as ever in space, and adds an effective weapon in any passing game.  At 28 years old and very little tread on those tires, Reggie Bush can hold St. Louis over for a few years.

#17: Pittsburgh Steelers: William Moore – S

The Steelers must get younger in the secondary, especially with the looming free agency of last year’s breakout star CB Kennan Lewis. Thus with the 17th choice, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Safety William Moore. Moore is similar to Polamalu in that his greatest strength is playing the run at the point of attack, a perfect complement to Ryan Clark. Moore brings youth, and most importantly, productivity, to a position a former Steeler star can no longer deliver.

#18: Dallas Cowboys: Wes Welker – WR

While the Cowboys need help in the trenches, it’s difficult to pass on a guy like Wes Welker. So they don’t. It’s not like Dallas is dying for a wide out, but Welker provides a great option for when Miles Austin‘s hamstring doesn’t work and brings Romo’s excuses closer to zero.  Dallas also needs to keep Demarco Murray healthy, otherwise, they’ll regret passing on Ahmad Bradshaw here.

#19: New York Giants: Jared Cook – TE

With the Dolphins selecting Martellus Bennett at pick 12, the Giants find a sudden need at tight end. They’ll select Jared Cook here and come out on top in the end as I believe Cook is the better player. (If I thought Tony G was playing for anyone but Atlanta this year, I would have taken him)

#20: The Chicago BearsJermon Bushrod – LT

The offensive line of the Chicago Bears is porous. While the Bears have other areas of need, it is clear the offensive line needs to be the first position group addressed (if only so Jay Cutler stops yelling at them).  J’Marcus Webb played below average at left tackle. Former first round draft pick, Gabe Carimi, is still unproven on the right side. Thus the Chicago Bears will select 2012 Pro Bowl left tackle Jermon Bushrod. This allows the Bears to have Webb and Carimi compete for the right tackle spot, in hopes of improving two offensive line spots.
